Tony Ferguson Stops Mahmoud Sebie in Round Two Title Defense
Tony Ferguson is still the Misfits Boxing middleweight champion.
The former UFC interim lightweight titleholder stopped Mahmoud Sebie by TKO at 0:42 of Round 2 on Saturday night at the James L. Knight Center in Miami.
The finish came on unanswered punches in the corner. Ferguson improved to 3-0 as a boxer and made the first defense of the belt he won in December.
The fight was scheduled for six rounds and streamed on DAZN. It served as the co-main event ahead of Henry Cejudo against Javon Walton.
Sebie was a late replacement. Kenzo Biyong withdrew with travel issues, and the Egyptian Olympic wrestler took the assignment on four days’ notice.
That did not slow Ferguson down for long.
He pressed from the opening round and dropped Sebie late in the first. Sebie beat the count and came out firing in the second.
The challenger found Ferguson early in Round 2 and briefly put him on the back foot. Ferguson walked through it.
He trapped Sebie on the ropes, kept throwing, and did not give him space to reset. The referee stepped in at 0:42 after a sustained flurry that left Sebie covering in the corner.
That is how “El Cucuy” keeps winning in a second sport. He does not need a perfect boxing clinic. He needs pressure that does not stop.
Ferguson first boxed for Misfits in August 2025 and stopped Salt Papi in the third round for the interim middleweight title. He then outpointed Warren Spencer over six rounds in Dubai on Dec. 20 to take the vacant championship.
Saturday made it three straight. Two of those three wins ended inside the distance.
Sebie arrived as a decorated Greco-Roman wrestler, a 2016 Olympian for Egypt, and a five-time African champion. This was his professional boxing debut.
The jump from the mat to the ring showed in the second round. Once Ferguson had him on the ropes, the wrestling pedigree could not buy an exit.
Ferguson is 42. He left the UFC after an eight-fight losing streak and has rebuilt the last year on Misfits cards in Manchester, Dubai, and now Miami.
The Miami stoppage was messy in spots and decisive at the end. He absorbed a scare, then finished the fight before the second minute of Round 2.
Austin McBroom entered the ring afterward to talk about a future title fight. Nothing was signed in the building.
That is the next question, not the result. Ferguson still holds the middleweight strap. He is 3-0 in boxing. The last man who tried to take the belt lasted 42 seconds of the second round.
Misfits has not announced his next date. Crossover boxing moves fast when a former UFC name keeps stopping people on short notice.
For one night in Miami, the story was simpler. Ferguson walked Sebie down, put him in the corner, and left with the title still around his waist.
