1. Biography: Shellharbour Rugby Roots to All-Time Featherweight GOAT

Born in Shellharbour, New South Wales to Macedonian and Greek parents, Alexander Volkanovski was a national Greco-Roman wrestling champion as a youth before playing semi-professional rugby league at nearly 214 pounds. Transitioning to mixed martial arts at age twenty-three under head coach Joe Lopez at Freestyle MMA, Volkanovski rapidly scaled the divisional ladder. Capturing the undisputed championship at UFC 245 by defeating Max Holloway, he went on to construct one of the most dominant title reigns in promotional history before engineering an iconic second championship ascension.

2. Fighting Style: Feint Architecture, Low Kicking Attrition & Pounding Clinch Control

Volkanovski is heralded as one of the highest-IQ tacticians combat sports has ever witnessed. Utilizing non-stop twitch feints, high-frequency level-changes, and inside calf kicks, he dismantles opposing timing and controls distance with an anomalous 71.5-inch reach. Behind disciplined boxing fundamentals, sharp counter hooks, and devastating dirty boxing along the fence, his transitional wrestling and ground-and-pound pressure render him virtually uncrackable across twenty-five championship minutes.

3. Championship Reign: Two-Time Supremacy & Turning Back Diego Lopes Twice

Following Ilia Topuria’s move up to the lightweight division, Volkanovski reaffirmed his dominion over the 145-pound kingdom. At UFC 314 on April 12, 2025, Volkanovski recaptured the Undisputed UFC Featherweight Championship by outclassing surging Brazilian finisher Diego Lopes over five clinical rounds. At UFC 325 on January 31, 2026, Volkanovski erased all doubt in their rematch, sweeping the scorecards with an authoritative unanimous decision to begin his historic second title reign.

1. Biography: Ingushetia Greco-Roman Heritage to Undefeated M-1 Global Champion

Born in Sunzha, Republic of Ingushetia, Russia, Movsar Evloev earned a degree in computer programming and law while training under world-class wrestling instructors. Attaining the distinction of Master of Sport in Greco-Roman Wrestling, Evloev transitioned into MMA and claimed the M-1 Global Bantamweight Championship, successfully defending it twice. Entering the UFC featherweight division in 2019, he systematically suffocated one elite contender after another, mounting an unblemished 20-0 ledger.

2. Fighting Style: Relentless Greco-Roman Chain Wrestling & Crisp Distance Boxing

Evloev integrates world-class Greco-Roman upper-body throws with relentless folkstyle chain wrestling. Shooting beneath punches with rapid level-changes, he drags adversaries to the mat along the fence and secures suffocating wrist-rides and leg triangles. On the feet, his 72.5-inch reach gives him a significant jab and 1-2 cross advantage, constantly setting traps and making opponents hesitate out of fear of his relentless takedown entries.

3. Contender Ascent: Conquering Sterling, Allen, Lopes & The Murphy Classic

Evloev cemented his status as the division’s undisputed #1 contender with a historic gauntlet of victories. After turning back Diego Lopes and earning unanimous decisions over Arnold Allen and former bantamweight king Aljamain Sterling at UFC 310, Evloev headlined UFC Fight Night on March 21, 2026 against undefeated striking specialist Lerone Murphy. 1. Biography: Manaus Jiu-Jitsu Lineage to Mexican MMA Vanguard

Born in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, Diego Lopes was raised in a renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu family, earning his black belt at age eighteen. Relocating to Mexico at nineteen to teach grappling and pursue mixed martial arts, Lopes joined Lobo Gym in Guadalajara, serving as head grappling coach for UFC champion Alexa Grasso. Making his promotional debut on five days’ notice against Movsar Evloev at UFC 288, Lopes pushed the undefeated standout to the brink and instantly captured international stardom.

2. Fighting Style: Aggressive Guard Submissions, Concussive Hooks & Flying Attacks

Lopes is a terrifying, multidimensional offensive threat. Standing nearly six feet tall, he marches opponents down behind explosive left hooks, leaping switch knees, and tight overhands. On the canvas, his 4th-degree BJJ black belt allows him to hunt armbars, triangles, and guillotine chokes from any position with instant speed and lethal torque. Opponents face severe danger both in close-range pocket firefights and during transitions on the mat.

3. Elite Campaigns: Slaying Ortega, Jean Silva & The White House Knockout

After dismantling former title challenger Brian Ortega at UFC 306 inside Sphere, Lopes pushed Alexander Volkanovski across two championship classics at UFC 314 and UFC 325. Between those battles, Lopes headlined Noche UFC in September 2025, knocking out streaking star Jean Silva in Round 2. On June 14, 2026, at the historic UFC Freedom 250 on the White House South Lawn, Lopes halted knockout artist Steve Garcia via second-round TKO to reaffirm his #2 world ranking.

1. Biography: Surviving Gunfire to Manchester Top Team Standard-Bearer

Born and raised in Old Trafford, Manchester, Lerone Murphy earned his moniker “The Miracle” after surviving a daylight shooting at age twenty-one that left him with three bullets embedded in his face and neck. Turning to mixed martial arts during his recovery, Murphy conquered the UK domestic scene by capturing the FCC Featherweight Championship. Entering the UFC in 2019, he assembled one of the longest unbeaten streaks in divisional history under head coach Carl Prince at Manchester Top Team.

2. Fighting Style: Long Lead Hand, Lateral Movement & Counter Crosses

Murphy utilizes a sophisticated, distance-oriented striking style powered by an exceptional 73.5-inch reach. Operating with relaxed posture, he dictates range using deceptive lead jabs, check hooks, and low calf kicks that chop away at opposing lead legs. His footwork is elite, allowing him to circle off the fence and deliver counter right crosses whenever aggressive opponents overcommit to pocket exchanges.

3. Contender Climax: Dominating Barboza, Emmett, Pico & The Evloev War

Murphy produced an incredible run across 2024 and 2025. After outstriking veteran Edson Barboza across five rounds in his first main event and outpointing Dan Ige at UFC 308, Murphy swept top-five stalwart Josh Emmett over twenty-five minutes. At UFC 319 in August 2025, Murphy scored a thunderous first-round knockout over former Bellator phenom Aaron Pico. In March 2026, he pushed #1 contender Movsar Evloev to the limit in a five-round classic, firmly solidifying the #3 world ranking.

1. Biography: Long Island Wrestling Vanguard to Historic Bantamweight Monarch

Born in Uniondale, New York to Jamaican parents, Aljamain Sterling wrestled competitively at Morrisville State College and SUNY Cortland, earning NCAA Division III All-American honors twice. Mentored by Jon Jones in college and subsequently joining Serra-Longo Fight Team under Ray Longo and Matt Serra, Sterling developed into one of the sport’s premier grapplers. Setting the all-time consecutive defense record in the UFC bantamweight division with three successful defenses, he transitioned permanently to featherweight in 2024.

2. Fighting Style: The Human Backpack, Unorthodox Kicks & Chain Wrestling

Sterling utilizes an unpredictable, funk-style grappling methodology designed to take the back from the most unusual scrambles. Switching stances constantly on the feet, he throws unorthodox front kicks, side teeps, and spinning back kicks to mask reactive shots. Once connected, his ability to wrap the body lock, transition to rear back control, and sink in the “Sterling Backpack” body triangle effectively exhausts opponents while neutralizing their offensive options.

3. Featherweight Resurgence: Neutralizing Ortega, Zalal & Kattar

Sterling proved his championship skill set seamlessly translated to the 145-pound division. After a dominant shutout of Calvin Kattar at historic UFC 300, Sterling dropped a competitive decision to Movsar Evloev before sweeping two-time title challenger Brian Ortega over five rounds in August 2025. In April 2026, Sterling headlined UFC Fight Night against surging contender Youssef Zalal, taking a unanimous decision victory to retain his #4 world ranking.

1. Biography: Santa Catarina Brawler to The Fighting Nerds Spearhead

Born in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, Jean Silva endured a turbulent upbringing before dedicating himself to martial arts. Joining The Fighting Nerds in São Paulo alongside teammates Caio Borralho, Carlos Prates, and Mauricio Ruffy, Silva adopted their trademark glasses-wearing aesthetic paired with ferocious aggression. Earning his UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 7 with a dominant sweep over Kevin Vallejos, Silva became an immediate global sensation with his willingness to fight across multiple weight classes on days’ notice.

2. Fighting Style: Manic Pocket Blitzes, Barking Intimidation & Heavy Hands

Silva is one of the most psychologically unhinged and technically violent strikers in the sport. Often barking at opponents and absorbing strikes with a grin, he closes distance behind crushing right crosses, ripping shovel hooks to the liver, and flying switch knees. Beneath his wild outward persona lies exceptional counter-timing and sharp Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals, allowing him to punish sloppy takedowns with front chokes and arm-in guillotines.

3. Contender Eruption: Submitting Mitchell, Outpointing Allen & Noche Headline

After recording historic back-to-back stoppage victories in just fourteen days during International Fight Week 2024, Silva embarked on an elite run. At UFC 314, he stunned grappling ace Bryce Mitchell with a second-round submission. Despite a setback against Diego Lopes at Noche UFC, Silva kicked off 2026 by outpointing top contender Arnold Allen at UFC 324. 1. Biography: Suffolk Boxing Tradition to Tristar Polish

Born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, Arnold Allen grew up in an athletic fighting family, guided by his father Perv Allen, a strongman and mixed martial artist. Compiling an undefeated amateur boxing record alongside competitive amateur MMA bouts, Allen entered the UFC in 2015 at age twenty-one. Splitting his training between BKK Fighters under Jack Mason and Tristar Gym in Montreal under Firas Zahabi, Allen engineered a legendary ten-fight promotional winning streak to establish himself among the global elite.

2. Fighting Style: Southpaw Precision, Iron Frame Sprawls & Front Headlocks

Allen is a disciplined southpaw sniper who works behind a probing lead right jab, heavy liver kicks, and a lightning-quick straight left hand. His defensive wrestling is among the stoutest in the 145-pound division, using underhooks and heavy hips to keep fights upright. When opponents shoot in out of panic, Allen capitalizes with his signature ninja choke and guillotine variations, punishing reckless entries with immediate submission threats.

3. Contender Legacy: Slaying Chikadze, Melquizael Costa & Veteran Wars

Allen’s resume includes dominant victories over Dan Hooker, Calvin Kattar, Gilbert Melendez, and Sodiq Yusuff. At UFC 304 in Manchester, Allen swept dangerous kickboxer Giga Chikadze in a technical kickboxing masterclass. Following a split against Jean Silva at UFC 324, Allen headlined UFC Fight Night in May 2026, delivering a vintage 25-minute tactical clinic to defeat streaking Brazilian Melquizael Costa via unanimous decision and maintain his firm grasp on the #6 ranking.

Transforming from a raw kickboxer into an elite submission grappler, Zalal engineered one of the greatest career reinventions in recent promotional history.

2. Fighting Style: Fluid Switch Kickboxing, Front Headlocks & D’Arce Chokes

Zalal fights with creative fluidity, gliding across the canvas while constantly switching between southpaw and orthodox stances. Throwing questioning lead hooks, spinning wheel kicks, and digging knees, he draws opponents into reactive wrestling attacks. It is precisely there where his evolution shines: his front-headlock series—featuring razor-sharp D’Arce chokes, anaconda chokes, and lightning back takes—has made him one of the division’s deadliest submission artists.

3. Top-10 Resurgence: Submitting Emmett, Beating Kattar & Main Eventing

Upon returning to the Octagon, Zalal strung together four consecutive stoppage victories over Billy Quarantillo, Jarno Errens, Jack Shore, and a clinical decision over Calvin Kattar. At UFC 320 in October 2025, Zalal shocked the MMA world by submitting former interim title challenger Josh Emmett with a first-round choke in just 98 seconds. His spectacular run earned him a five-round main event against former champion Aljamain Sterling in April 2026, solidifying his top-ten status.

Born in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Kevin Vallejos started boxing at a young age before dedicating his life to mixed martial arts alongside his brothers. Dominating the Latin American regional circuit in Samurai Fight House, Vallejos captured its featherweight belt before earning a contract on Season 8 of Dana White’s Contender Series with a savage first-round knockout over Cam Teague. Rapidly ascending the divisional ranks, “El Chino” has emerged as the most concussive Argentine knockout artist in UFC history.

Born in Santa Inês, Maranhão, Brazil, Joanderson Brito began training in combat sports as a teenager to escape poverty. Moving to São Paulo to train at Chute Boxe Diego Lima alongside world champions, Brito earned the moniker “Tubarão” (Shark) for his predatory finishing instincts. Earning a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, Brito made an immediate promotional impact with highlight-reel finishes over veteran contenders.

Following tactical decision setbacks against Pat Sabatini and William Gomis, Brito responded with an explosive three-fight winning streak. After dominating Isaac Thomson, Brito submitted grappling specialist Jordan Leavitt via first-round guillotine. 1. Biography: Overcoming Vitiligo & Brazilian Regional Circuit Stardom

Born in Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil, Melquizael Costa faced severe bullying as a child due to vitiligo, turning to combat sports to build resilience and self-confidence. Becoming a prolific competitor on Brazil’s regional circuit, Costa captured the Predador FC Featherweight Championship and fought across three weight classes before entering the UFC on short notice in 2023. Embracing his skin condition with pride under the moniker “Cautchaboy,” Costa evolved into a feared contender.

2. Fighting Style: Southpaw Body Kicking, Dynamic Range & Transitional Trips

Costa is a technical southpaw striker who utilizes an educated lead kicking game. Snapping liver kicks, low calf slaps, and jumping knees from long range, he forces adversaries to overextend into his counter left crosses. When opponents crowd his space, Costa uses Greco-Roman underhooks and lateral drops to drag fights to the ground, utilizing top control and front-headlock series to maintain positional dominance.

3. Contender Ascent: The 4-Fight Blitz & Knocking Out Dan Ige

Costa assembled the most spectacular run of his career throughout 2025 and 2026. He rattled off consecutive victories over Christian Rodriguez and Julian Erosa before obliterating French striker Morgan Charrière via first-round knockout in just 74 seconds. In February 2026, Costa headlined against perennial gatekeeper Dan Ige, scoring a sensational first-round knockout at 4:56.
