Historic UFC Records Set
Promotional Records Established at UFC 132
Dominick Cruz made history as the first fighter to successfully defend the newly minted UFC Bantamweight Championship inside the Octagon, avenging his sole career defeat against Urijah Faber.
Cruz vs. Faber 2 became the very first bantamweight bout in UFC history to capture official Fight of the Night honors, setting an all-time divisional tempo across 25 championship minutes.
Entering on a five-fight winless streak spanning nearly five years, former champion Tito Ortiz pulled off one of the biggest betting upsets in modern 205-pound history by submitting Ryan Bader (-600) in 1:56.
With his first-round guillotine choke finish, Tito Ortiz secured his 4th career submission inside the Octagon, tying him near the top of the all-time light heavyweight submission leaderboard.
Chris Leben demolished PRIDE champion Wanderlei Silva in just 27 seconds of round one, producing the fastest middleweight knockout of 2011 and the quickest stoppage of Silva’s legendary career.
Leben joined Vitor Belfort (UFC Brazil 1998) as one of only two athletes in UFC history to stop Wanderlei Silva in under 30 seconds of the opening round.
Carlos Condit became the first fighter to ever knock out or defeat Dong Hyun Kim (who entered 14-0-1), connecting with a highlight-reel flying knee and punches at 2:58 of Round 1.
Future lightweight kingpin Rafael dos Anjos authored the fastest knockout of his mixed martial arts career, sleeping top contender George Sotiropoulos with a blistering overhand right in just 59 seconds.
Melvin Guillard flattened Shane Roller in 2:12 to earn his 7th lightweight knockout inside the Octagon, tying B.J. Penn for the most knockout victories in UFC lightweight division history at the time.
Anthony Njokuani connected on 116 significant strikes against Andre Winner, establishing one of the most lopsided significant strike differentials (+101) ever recorded in a three-round lightweight bout.
UFC 132 solidified the promotion’s premier Fourth of July Las Vegas weekend tradition, selling out 13,109 tickets at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for an official live gate of $2,304,500.
The card generated 5 first-round finishes (Leben 0:27, RDA 0:59, Ortiz 1:56, Guillard 2:12, Condit 2:58), matching the highest opening-round finish volume on any UFC pay-per-view card in 2011.
