Ailin Perez Outpoints Norma Dumont in Heated UFC Vegas 121 Co-Main
Ailin Perez won the argument that went the distance, taking a unanimous decision over Norma Dumont in the women’s bantamweight co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Rosas Jr. vs. Barcelos.
All three judges scored it 29-28 on Saturday at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. Perez moved to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in the UFC. Dumont fell to 13-4 and 9-4 inside the promotion.
The fight had been personal for weeks. It stayed on the feet longer than the pre-fight talk suggested and still ended with Perez’s hand raised.
Dumont outlanded her 102-47 in total strikes and 46-37 in significant strikes. The scorecards went the other way because Perez won the rounds that featured control.
Round 1 belonged to the Argentine. She mixed movement with a left hand and a counter combination, then caught a kick and put Dumont on her back in the center of the cage.
Perez worked from half guard with short shots until the horn. MMA Junkie scored that round 10-9 for Perez, matching the official cards.
Dumont answered in the second. She stuffed an early shot, ended up on top after a scramble, and found counters while Perez circled. It was the slowest round of the fight, and it was Dumont’s clearest five minutes.
The third decided it. Perez landed a straight right, kicked the body, and started winning the exchanges. With about two minutes left she drove Dumont to the fence, landed knees, and kept the clinch until the bell.
Referee Jason Herzog never had to consider a stoppage. Neither woman attempted a submission. Perez went 1-for-7 on takedowns. Dumont was 1-for-1.
The numbers explain the debate that will follow. Dumont was busier. Perez was the fighter who changed position and finished the last round on the fence.
That was the version of Perez she had sold all week. “Her biggest weakness is her mind, and that’s where I’m going to work,” she told MMA Fighting. “I’m already winning the fight, you know?”
Dumont had promised something shorter. “This fight is not going to last 15 minutes,” she said before the event. “I guarantee you that.”
It lasted all 15. The staredown on Friday had already given the Apex a preview. After Perez twerked at the faceoff, Dumont threw condoms at her and said, “You need this.”
While Perez picked them up, Dumont threw money. “You pay whore with money,” she said. “Take it, it’s yours.”
None of that showed up as a finish. What showed up was a close top-five fight between two veterans who already owned wins over some of the same names in the division.
Perez entered on a six-fight streak that included decisions over Joselyne Edwards, Karol Rosa, and Macy Chiasson. Saturday made it seven.
Dumont was coming off a unanimous-decision loss to Edwards in April, which ended a six-fight run that had included Ketlen Vieira and Irene Aldana. She is now 0-2 in 2026.
The loss does not remove her from the upper half of women’s bantamweight. It does hand Perez the cleaner recent résumé against a ranked opponent who usually wins these grinding decisions.
Perez fights out of The Goat Shed and has built her UFC run on pressure more than highlight-reel knockouts. Seven of her 14 wins have gone to the judges. This one fit the pattern.
No title fight was announced in the cage. The division’s next step still depends on how the official rankings move after a night that also featured a five-round main event between Raul Rosas Jr. and Raoni Barcelos.
For Perez, the win is the first time the feud produced an official result. For Dumont, it is a second straight night that went the distance and did not go her way.
