Brendan Allen submitted Christian Leroy Duncan with a rear-naked choke at 2:46 of the fifth round in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Duncan. The finish came at Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday and moved Allen to 28-7 while keeping him inside the top five of the middleweight rankings.
Allen locked the choke after securing back control late in the final round. Duncan continued to move and fight the hold until the referee stepped in.
Official statistics showed Allen landing 42 of 94 significant strikes to Duncan’s 111 of 207. Allen completed four of 11 takedowns and recorded 8:53 of control time to Duncan’s 3:51.
Duncan held the higher volume on the feet with 75 of 161 significant strikes to the head compared to Allen’s 29 of 72.
The grappling exchanges decided the bout. Allen attempted two submissions and finished with the rear-naked choke after a prolonged ground sequence in the fifth.
Duncan landed more total strikes overall at 138 of 237 to Allen’s 80 of 132 and connected on 17 of 21 body strikes to Allen’s 8 of 16. Neither fighter scored a knockdown. Allen’s four successful takedowns and superior control time created the position that produced the stoppage.
Allen entered ranked No. 4 and on a three-fight win streak. Duncan entered ranked No. 10 and on a five-fight run that included his first UFC main-event booking. The English fighter had not lost inside the promotion since 2024.
Allen mixed takedown entries with ground work and eventually found the back after Duncan defended earlier attempts. The fifth-round finish was the first stoppage of the main event after several decisions earlier on the card.
Allen improves to 28-7. Duncan falls to 15-3. The 29-year-old American extends his current streak to four and maintains his place among the top middleweights.
Duncan’s streak ends in his highest-profile outing to date. Both fighters remain ranked, and the division continues with several contenders still active.
Allen leaves Las Vegas with a fifth-round submission, 8:53 of control time, and a ranking that keeps him near the title picture. Duncan leaves with the first loss of his current run and a higher striking output that was not enough to avoid the choke.
