Smilla Sundell Takes Unanimous Decision Over Aline Pereira on Contender Series
Smilla Sundell defeated Aline Pereira by unanimous decision on Tuesday night in a women’s bantamweight bout on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10, Week 10 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The official scorecards read 29-28 across all three judges after three full rounds.
Sundell improved to 3-0 while Pereira fell to 3-3. The fight streamed on Paramount+ as the co-main event of the season finale.
Sundell landed the clear striking volume edge throughout, connecting on 113 of 371 significant strikes compared with Pereira’s 65 of 195.
Pereira recorded the only successful takedown of the bout and held 1:01 of control time against Sundell’s 0:47, but the significant strike differential favored the younger fighter across the three rounds.
The exchanges stayed competitive enough for close 29-28 scorecards in Sundell’s favor.
Sundell pressed forward with combinations and kicks that accumulated damage, particularly to the head and body, while Pereira looked for counter opportunities and brief grappling moments.
Neither fighter scored a knockdown or submission attempt. The decision matched the pattern of Pereira’s prior MMA outings, all of which had gone the distance, while ending Sundell’s streak of first-round and second-round stoppages.
Sundell, the 21-year-old from Sweden who fights as The Hurricane, entered off two technical knockouts in her first two professional MMA bouts. She previously held the ONE Championship women’s strawweight Muay Thai title and was the youngest world champion in that promotion’s history.
Pereira, the 36-year-old from Brazil and younger sister of Alex Pereira, arrived with a kickboxing and Karate Combat background and a recent split decision win over Jade Masson-Wong. The age and experience contrast shaped the striking exchanges, as Sundell’s output proved decisive over the full distance.
The result keeps Sundell undefeated in MMA and adds a decision win over an established kickboxer on the Contender Series. Contender Series winners typically receive UFC offers when the promotion is impressed, though final determinations for the full card remain pending as the main event concludes.
Sundell leaves Las Vegas with the unanimous decision and a perfect record that strengthens her case among the younger prospects competing for roster spots.
Pereira returns after the close loss in a bout decided by the Swedish fighter’s volume over 15 minutes. The women’s bantamweight matchup adds another competitive decision to a Contender Series season finale that continues to determine which additional fighters advance toward the UFC.
