John Fury Calls Peter a Cockroach If He Helps Joshua
John Fury said his brother Peter would be the lowest form of human being if he helped Anthony Joshua prepare to beat Tyson Fury. Speaking to iFL TV, John called secret phone calls or training sessions with Joshua the work of the biggest cockroach of all time.
The interviewer told John that Peter Fury is not involved in the December fight and will not work with Joshua before it, but would happily work with him afterward. John did not treat that distinction as a defense. “If he was to do that in any way, shape or form, that would make him the lowest form of human being, wouldn’t it?” he said.
John said the two of them do not speak. “I don’t talk to the man. I’ll never speak to him as long as they live,” he said. He added that Peter knows why, and that the reason is not for the public. “It’s not only me and him know why, but that’s not for the public, it’s for me and him.”
The line he drew was about the Cardiff fight, not about Joshua in the abstract. “If you’re gonna be sly making phone calls to Anthony Joshua, having secret training sessions with him, behind closed doors, out the way of the public, to announce him to beat your nephew, that makes you in the cockroach department,” John said. “You’re the biggest cockroach of all time.” He called the idea absolutely diabolical.
Money did not change the answer. “If you offered me one billion dollars to do something like that, I’d run you out this building,” John said. He then widened the accusation from action to intent. “If he’s doing stuff like that behind closed doors, even thinking about doing it, that makes him the biggest dog, the biggest untrustworthy dog of all times, doesn’t it?”
John allowed that training Joshua for something other than Tyson would be a different matter. “If he wants to train Anthony Joshua to do other things apart from Tyson, but if he’s gonna start giving phone calls and advice and meeting in secret and giving him secret sessions, he’s a f**ing cockroach,” he said. “He’s a cockroach.” He then pulled the claim back. “I’m not saying he’s doing that. But if he is, he’s a fcked up individual.”
The interviewer said the story had come from social media, and that Peter’s defense was a call from Joshua a couple of months ago. He said Joshua wanted boxing advice and must have respected Peter as a trainer. John asked twice what the advice was about. “The only advice he could have wanted is on Tyson, isn’t it?” he said. “He’s not going to ring him for advice on Prenger, is he? So why would he ring Peter? There’s no smoke without fire, is there?”
Peter had already answered the rumor in public. On October 1 he wrote that he and Joshua spoke two months ago about Joshua’s skill set, called him a really nice guy, and said anything Joshua needed after the fight would be a pleasure. He said Joshua has a great team around him, including Team Usyk, and that his own focus is Rico Verhoeven, with camp starting soon. That post is the account the interviewer was putting to John.
Tyson had taken the other side of the same family argument. In his own video he said Peter would never work against him, and he called suggestions that his uncle was helping Joshua categorically untrue. John’s interview does not accuse Peter of a confirmed camp role. It sets the penalty if the social-media version is real.
The fight those comments sit under is already dated. Joshua and Tyson meet on December 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, live on Netflix, after Turki Alalshikh confirmed the UK venue. The Ring listed Joshua at 30-4 with 27 knockouts. Neither man holds a heavyweight world title going in.
John closed by speaking to Peter as a son rather than a rival coach. “If he was to do anything like that, I’m looking at a son, give your head a wobble,” he said. “Don’t sell your soul to the devil for a fiver. Do not do stuff like that, mate. That’s all I’m saying.” Peter’s public position remains that any help for Joshua comes after Cardiff, while John has left the family door shut either way.
