Raoni Barcelos Says He Is Well After UFC Vegas 121 Collapse

Raoni Barcelos spoke from a Las Vegas hospital bed and told fans he is doing well after the frightening finish of his first UFC main event.

The 39-year-old Brazilian posted a video while still in a gown, with an IV in his arm and swelling around both eyes. “Tô bem, tô muito bem,” he said. “Tô fazendo todos os exames aqui no hospital.”

That message is the first time Barcelos has appeared on camera since he went limp in the fifth round against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Fight Night on September 26. The bout at the Meta APEX was stopped at 1:38 of Round 5 after a slam, and Barcelos left the cage on a stretcher.

The UFC said he was taken to a Level 1 trauma center, given a CT scan, and found stable, alert, and responsive with full movement. He has remained under observation while further tests continue.

Barcelos framed those tests as hospital protocol, not a new emergency. “É essa medida do hospital mesmo,” he said. “Tem que tá fazendo.”

He thanked people who prayed and wrote to him. “Agradeço por todas as orações, todas as mensagens de carinho,” he said. “Continuem nessa força.”

The loss snapped a five-fight winning streak and dropped him to 22-6. He had been ahead on the scorecards before the fifth-round collapse and earned a $100,000 Fight of the Night bonus with Rosas Jr., who moved to 13-1.

Barcelos did not hide disappointment about how the night ended. “Eu entreguei tudo dentro daquele queijo,” he said. “Só saí daquele queijo ali carregado.”

He wanted a different result. “Não foi da forma que eu queria,” he said. “Queria ter sido campeão, queria sair com a vitória, mas papai do céu sabe de tudo.”

Coach Davi Ramos had already told supporters that a stroke and a heart attack had been ruled out, while saying doctors still had no official explanation. Doctor Gustavo Medeiros earlier described a “sudden illness” in the fifth round and said Barcelos was lucid and being kept in hospital for protocol and final tests.

None of those comments replace a completed diagnosis. Barcelos himself did not name a cause. He only said he is conscious, undergoing exams, and planning to return.

“Eu tô aqui, tô bem,” he said. “Vou voltar, vou voltar mais forte.”

Rosas Jr. asked the arena to pray for him after the stoppage and later said he checked whether Barcelos was breathing before he felt any relief. That concern is why the hospital video matters more than the official result.

Barcelos closed with gratitude and a simple send-off. “Queria mandar esse beijo pra todos vocês e grande abraço, e muito obrigado por tudo,” he said. “Valeu, vamos que vamos.”

He is still in Las Vegas and still under medical supervision. The next public step is whatever the remaining tests show, and then a return date that no one should invent before doctors clear him.
